1689 - Authentic Dutch Dry Gin

1689 - Authentic Dutch Dry Gin

The Netherlands

In 1689 Dutch King William of Orange was proclaimed King of England. He was largely responsible for introducing the British to gin and even went so far as to make his own. The 1689 Authentic Dutch Dry Gin is based on the King’s original recipe, uncovered from the British Library. But while all the ingredients were listed, the quantities were coded. Together with the experienced distillers of Herman Jansen in Schiedam they nonetheless created a delicious gin based on the original ingredients, including red quince, juniper, lemon peel and aniseed.

Gordon's - London Dry Gin

Gordon's - London Dry Gin

United Kingdom

Gordon's gin was established in 1769 by Alexander Gordon as he set out on a mission to produce a gin worthy of carrying his family name. Gordon believed that success lay in the perfect combination of distilled grain spirit and rich botanicals. To this day Gordon's is distilled to this same exacting standard — the exact blend of our botanicals remains a closely guarded secret. The attention to detail results in a distinctive that mixes perfect in long mixed drinks and cocktails.

1689 - Pink Gin

1689 - Pink Gin

The Netherlands

The 1689 Queen Mary Pink Gin is made after an original gin recipe from 1689 found in the annals of the British Library. It’s named after the wife of King William of Orange and based on a footnote on the old recipe: adding strawberries and raspberries to the distillation of the 1689 Dry Gin makes for a pink-hued spirit with a fantastic fruity taste. This is the original fruit-flavoured gin!

Sir Edmond Gin

Sir Edmond Gin

The Netherlands

Sir Edmond is a Dutch gin produced by Herman Jansen, a company that traces its heritage all the way back to 1777. Sir Edmond Gin has all the usual botanicals like juniper, angelica and cardamom, but vanilla is a bit of an odd duck. Sir Edmond Gin claims to be the world’s first vanilla-infused gin and won a Master Medal at the 2017 Gin Masters. The perfect service is with cinnamon and an orange slice.

Silent Pool

Silent Pool

United Kingdom

A group of friends with one common passion decided to produce an artisan gin. The location eventually became the English estate Albury in Surrey Hills, right next to the Silent Pool; a beautiful, mysterious lake. The Gin is distilled in small quantities in a copper boiler heated by locally harvested wood. Silent Pool contains no less than 24 carefully selected botanicals, including kaffir lime, chamomile, local honey and lavender. This gives a subtly sweet but complex palette of flavours.

G'Vine - Floraison

G'Vine - Floraison

France

A rather odd Gin, made from grape alcohol; also the basis of Cognac. The creator is Eurowinegate, located in the French Cognac area. Their intention was to create a real French Gin. The name Floraison refers to the period when the vines have finished flowering and the grapes begin to grow. The herbs used are juniper, coriander, coriander, cassichors, lime, pepperberries and liquorice. The Gin is very floral; almost as if you're walking between flowering vines.

Gin Mare - Mediterranean Gin

Gin Mare - Mediterranean Gin

Spain

A Spanish Gin with influences of Mediterranean herbs. The recipe is quite old, from the 19th century. The influence of the Mediterranean areas is clearly palatable; olives, basil, rosemary and thyme are the herbs used. Of course next to the 'solid' Gin botanicals juniper, coriander, orange and green cardamom. When you taste this Gin, it feels like you're walking near the Mediterranean Sea past a small restaurant. A delicious, intensely seasoned Gin.
